Gear question from a beginner

Offline
#1 bcrose
I am new at this but not new to photography. I have the camera, lens and tripod I intend to use but no idea on what else would be a good beginners kit. In particular I am thinking about some kind of unit for panning. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I do not need a professional rail systems etc. yet...is there anything I can get for under $500 ?

I use the CamRanger remote app on an iPad that supports TL but not sure if I will use it for this.

As of yet I have not taken a single TL sequence! I am very interested in this type of photography and have read Gunther's eBook and downloaded LRTimelapse demo to check out. I am certain I will be purchasing the program soon as it looks great.

It is still frozen cold and snowy on my part of the planet so I have a few months to get my kit in order and then head out for some practice.

The gear I currently own is below

Nikon D4
14-24 2.8
200-400 4.0
35 1.8
Good tripod
Arcatech ballhead and rail.
LightRoom 5

Cheers and thanks in advance

I suggest you get an interval timer and start practising with static shots before buying a slider or something else.
Then a slider would certainly give you the best effect for money to start with.

Thanks for the input.

The built in Intervalometer is not adequate for this?
