Hyperlapse Editing "Motion Tracking" or "WarpStabilizer"

Hi currently I am working on Hyperlapses and consistent framing is a really challenging task.

However, I believe most of the hyperlapsers face with the same issue " the inconsistency of warpstabilizer" Sometimes it does its magic, but there are also results give me wobby results. I have talked to the creater of Berlin Hyperlapse video Shabab Gabriel Behzumi and he told he is going to make a tutorial regarding the editing of hyperlapse sequences.

What I learned from him is, to get the best results we need to edit frame by frame by using AE's motion tracking. Since I am not a pro in AE, I need some advices related to Behzumi's technique

1- Can you import NEF sequences into AE, and treat them as video
2- If we can, how we are going to track the motion seperately for each photo?

I believe there are people interested in hyperlapsing & sick of using weird results with Warpstabilizer.

this guy uses Warpstabilizer and gets good results but I generally use WS for video however he used it for JPEG sequence and got really good results. For my sequence importing and editing JPEGS did not work.

(sorry for my bad english)
depend how good, bad you are shooting....so try to shoot and framing good as possible

i have some experience want to share,in stabilization post-production
Both warp stabilizer and motion are useful, you can combine two,and if you put alots of effort, your time, even a terrible shaky footages still can be solved (but come with cropping price - for ugly black border - the more shakiness the more black border will show, more cropping require, lost image areas) you know what i mean Wink

-Motion track can help you stabilize the object you want to focus and then,sometime..all frame area..but then, the result isn't perfect, the problem is the edge of frame - you will notice shakiness, not so big but so ugly (of course, this method is very time-consuming) (motion track can help you fixed the rotation of your footage, but depend on what kind of movement your hyperlapse is,not all it's work)

-Warp stabilizer: Automatic always cool, just press button to see the magic, can be very useful for some difficult hyperlapse has complicated movement, the weakness is sometime errors can be happened.

If you warp stabilizer only, just try do what i say
-step1: 1st time run WS, "Position,Rotation,Scale", check "Preserve Scale",set smoothness to 100,check "Detailed Analyst", choose "Stabilize only" (if you want to leave black border to manual cropping later)
-step2: Export image sequence (ok,you must crop to remove black border, if you choose "Stabilize only")
-step3: Yeah right, put the sequence again in AE,apply WS again (2nd time), this time follow what i say
"Suspace Warp",uncheck "Preserve Scale",set smoothness to "8", check "Detailed Analyst", and then....want to leave border or not? Wink

(Just repeat step2 and step3 until you feel satisfield)

You can send me your sequence,i will feel free to fix you Tongue

i suggest you get version CC of AE,because WS is more better

motion track is easy, here is tutorial video you will find in this link

try to align accurate pixel to pixel like b-zoomi do

I have found Lock & Load (http://www.coremelt.com/products/lock-and-load-x.html) to be superior to the warp stabalizer in AE CC. Easier to use, and smoother results. It is, though, Mac only.

Hi KKoolKool!

Thanks very mutch for your workflow regarding warp ae, since I was struglling to get any decent results with my settings.

I still don't understand one thing.
You are applying the warp stabilizer to a composition with the original pixel dimensions that the image was capture, (5184x3456 in my case) or you create a new comp with HD setting (1920x1080), scaling down the original footage and then apply the warp stabilizer to it?

thanks

@hi lightime! i apply to original resolution, create comp with orignal resolution Smile (no scaling down)

well, very late thank you, believe me or not, since I didn't work with this with the same time, I was trying to track the post where I saw this ettings

thanks
