Have tried to play the video after I have rendered, only to experience freezing of the video while the timeline of the video progresses.
I have a brand new MAC 5k i7  on SIERRA 10.12

Probably the player does not support the resolution. LRTimelapse exports are master files for further editing. They should work in a video editor, but some players cannot play some resolutions / bitrates. Try rendering in lower resolution/ quality and in 16:9 for playback, you can use higher resolutions for editing.

Did you check vlc player? I'm not a Mac user so I can't really recommend...
