Storm Timelapse

Offline
#1 Rickety
Hey Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone might have any tips relating to making storm timelapse. Where I live we have a wet season which results in almost daily storm fronts rolling in with an abundance of lightning. This is great for still photography working with longer exposures capturing multiple bolts of lightning in one shot. Would I be correct in thinking that when timelapse shooting very active storms I should still attempt to shoot at a fairly high rate of frames (ie 1 second with a 1 second interval)??

My last attempt was shot at 4 second exposures with a 2 second interval. Due to the high frequency of lightning nearly all the frames had the lightning or clouds lit up by lightning. This resulted in a very strobe like effect (helped somewhat by deflicker). I will upload it to youtube so you can see however I'm having internet issues at home currently.

Sheers for any help you may be able to provide.
Matt
