Trying to get qDSLRDashboard Working with My A7III and Pixel 2 XL - Help

Trying to get qDB up and running with my A7III to shoot some time lapses and am having some setup issues.

1) I can get the WiFi connection going between the phone and the camera, but if I have to restart qDB (more on that in a second) I have to power cycle the camera or the phone will not discover the camera again in qDB

2) Once connected, I can adjust exposure settings, but if I hit the camera button in the left menu to initiate a capture, it says capture in progress and the camera IR light illuminates, but no image is captured on the camera or in the app on the phone. Not sure what is happening there?

3) In the left menu, there is a button near the bottom labeled “av”. If I press this button, the live view disappears from the app, the red “Lv” button in the upper left turns grey instead of red, and the app will not respond or bring the live view back unless I restart the phone and the app and reconnect (see two screen shots below)

4) In the LRTimelapse Module from the right menu, if I hit “Capture Sample” it shows the “capture in progress” again, but again nothing happens. No image is recorded to the phone or the camera and no preview shows up in the LRT screen. Also, the Auto Holy Grail button is grayed out and cannot be selected. Again see screenshot below.

As I understand it, there are people who have the A7III running with qDB, so hoping someone can chime in with what I may be doing wrong in this case. This is all via WiFi as I understand that the sony cameras cannot be controlled over USB.

Maybe some update on the camera software that you did or did not install?
Otherwise I think this is something only Zoltan (the developer of qDDB) would be able to answer. If he doesn't answer here, please contact him via http://qdslrdashboard.info

Could you add the answer here too for others that might stumble over this thread?

Thank you both for the quick response (love the support reaction time). Going to run through everything Zoltan sent this morning and I will report back my findings in case anyone else encounters a similar issue.

Quick follow-up here (probably should have done this to begin with, standard thing...) - I reinstalled the Sony Imaging Edge app on my phone (it had just updated so was already current, but uninstalled/reinstall anyway. I then launched Imaging Edge, used the app to establish the wifi connection to the camera (NFC tap, whatever sony is doing there it is slow because it takes 20-30 seconds to get it to recognize the phone), and then confirmed control through Imaging Edge. I then launched qDSLRDashboard, hit the sony wifi connection button, and everything seemed to be good! Tested interval, single frame capture, settings control, and LRTimelapse module and all seemed to be functioning (it’s mid morning so I will try and test actual ramping tonight). The only hold up I still had was if i bumped the “av” button on the left menu, it still killed the live view and all capture functions and required a full restart of the app, camera, and wifi connection (just closing and restarting the app and establishing connection did not restore live view or capture).

Again, definitely my fault for not starting with app reinstalls, so not sure what the “issue” was before but it seems resolved there in that regard (knew it would since others have been having success). Now if Sony would just fully open up the API/SDK for all platforms to control all aspects remotely.

Thanks again for the killer software, can’t wait to get into it more. Will follow-up if I figure out the “av” thing.

I have the A7III and I don't use the Sony APP to establish the connection. I just go to the cameras menu, turn on WIFI and press Establish Connection, then, on my phone I go to the available WIFI netwroks and select the camera WIFI. Works perfectly. One thing to keep in mind is that once you press the play bottom to review a picture in camera the WIFI connection gets lost, the qDSLR APP keeps working normally but without connection, so you won't realize that no connection is anymore.
