Syrp Genie and LRT Pro Timer - macoda - 2019-11-24

Does anyone have a solution for using a Syrp Genie and a LRT Pro Timer concurrently?

RE: Syrp Genie and LRT Pro Timer - Gunther - 2019-11-24

You need to check if the Syrp Genie offers a slave mode for external triggering, please check the doc or ask the manufacturer. If it does, you can just follow the instructions on https://lrtimelapse.com/lrtpt/motion-control/

Unfortunately not Gunther, that's why I asked. I'll message Syrp to see if they plan on including this in a firmware update, but I was wondering if there were any workarounds out there.

I don't think so... But please keep us posted.

RE: Syrp Genie and LRT Pro Timer - macoda - 2019-11-24

Sure, will do. They've just released a new firmware update but unfortunately that's not included. I've logged a support request asking them to include Slave Mode in the next release.

You could always use them both together working independently. Set the LRT Pro Timer to shoot as per normal, set the Genie Mini to perform the move you want it to do, i.e. 180ยบ and start them both to work at the same time; LRT Pro Timer would then start taking the Timelapse whilst the genie is gyrating.

RE: Syrp Genie and LRT Pro Timer - macoda - 2019-11-24

There's a risk of the shutter being triggered when the Genie is moving when interval ramping, so whilst that's a solution if the interval is static, it's not if it isn't.

RE: Syrp Genie and LRT Pro Timer - macoda - 2019-11-25

Syrp replied to say no further firmware updates are being released for the Genie v1 as they are no longer being manufactured. They recommended I buy a Timelapse+ View as that's supported.

- 'What we do recommend for users is the Timelapse + VIEW device from this company. A few years ago, they developed a software to make this particular product compatible with ours. I cannot speak for the LRT Pro Timer however.'

RE: Syrp Genie and LRT Pro Timer - Gunther - 2019-11-25

As far as I know, they don't have a slave port on the genie - that means, most likely a firmware update wouldn't be enough.
The TL+ View, is a completely different tool and cannot be compared, see my faq: https://lrtimelapse.com/lrtpt/faq

RE: Syrp Genie and LRT Pro Timer - rodrigo - 2019-11-25

In th TL+ View you connect the camera to the View , the mini USB from the Genie to the 2.5mm end to the View+ Aux port2; this then triggers the frame. All settings, intervals, exposure etc,etc for the Timelapse are set within the TL+View. There are a few examples of timelapses with this set up within my postings.
