Routers other than TP Link TL-MR3040? - Sandiegochris - 2016-05-27

Hi there,

I've been using the TP Link TL-MR3040 router to control my camera during timelapse sequences via dslr dashboard for a little over a month now and for the most part it works as expected.  My biggest problem at this point is the router's range (or lack of). With good line of sight in open areas I can manage maybe 30 to 40ft of distance before signal weakens significantly. But even within close range, an object such as a car or a large rock seems to reduce the signal to a point where it becomes unreliable or not worth risking.  Have any of you tried other routers that provide better range?  I'm looking for another solution that would allow me to set up camp or be in a vehicle much further away from the equipment if necessary.

Thanks,

You can find some hacking instructions in the web to add an external antenna to the 3040... :-)
