Check out my latest film, Apotheosis. [Video: https://vimeo.com/130997671]

The past year I have been filming and leading timelapse workshops about the Northern Lights in Iceland during the Solar Maximum -- the peak of solar activity that occurs every 10-11 years.

On March 17th, 2015, my workshop group was fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time when the solar storm of the decade hit Earth. The sky was covered with auroras so strong, they were visible at dusk. This continued all night until dawn. In the film you will see rare red, yellow, white, blue and violet purple auroras.

I was also fortunate to get shots of aurora borealis lighting up the sky while the Bárðarbunga volcano was erupting. The orange/red glow you will see in the distance is from the hot lava spewing from the volcano.

Please enjoy some of the best northern lights we have seen in years!

Join me for my next trip to Iceland to shoot Northern Lights! Or one of my other timelapse workshops. http://evosiastudios.com/workshops/

Shot, edited, and available in 4K. Some shots available in 7K.

Very beautiful. I can't imagine what it must have been like watching that in person in realtime. One small question: what causes the flickering in the stars? Just curious.

Thanks BobB! If you're talking about the twinkling stars in first 2 shots, those are actually from live video on the A7S. The twinkling is due to the atmosphere.
