Apple abandon Quicktime

Offline
#1 Photosbykev
Hi,

are there any alternatives to Quicktime which is required for the high resolution renders? When I removed QT I found that Adobe Elements 14 wouldn't load the Prores encoded video file, after re-installing QT as a test it was loaded without issues.

With Apple no longer supporting Quicktime and their recommendation to remove it from our systems because of security vulnerabilities does this limit what LRT4 will be able to render or does it just limit what other software can view and edit the files?

Hi Kev, LRTimelapse does not require quicktime at all.

Thank you Gwegner, it looks like some of the Adobe products need the Prores video codec that is installed with QT in order to handle the Prores videos output from LRT4

Sure, some Adobe products currently require Quicktime. But it is Adobes Job to handle this and provide alternatives, if Apple stops supporting QT.
