August 21 Eclipse

How would members of the forum do a time-lapse of the August 21 eclipse? Aside from the usual precautions of not looking into the viewfinder to avoid solar damage to the retina (macula), I am interested in how to set up the shoot. I plan on using the maximum filtering I have (polarizing filter stacked on top of 6x ND filter), setting focus at infinity  (distant object first), and manual metering (or should I use Aperture preferred). Advise f/stop (high or low), and shutter speed.

We already have a couple of threads where this is being discussed, using the search feature helps finding those: https://forum.lrtimelapse.com/search.php...order=desc

Hi Gunther- I do have your book. Can you tell me what pages cover time lapse of solar eclipse?   I was not able to find solar eclipse discussions with search bar.

It's not explained in the book. But just type "Eclipse" in the search field above, and you'll get to the threads.
