I understand that LRTimelapse 6 is heavily CPU dependent and takes advantage of multiple cores. Threadripper is out of my price range, so I'm looking at either the Intel i9-13900k or the AMD Ryzen 7950x. They are both very close in price, so I'm really looking for which one might give better performance, even if only slight.

Another question - is there any advantage using DDR5 vs DDR4 memory? Intel will support DDR4, but if Ryzen is faster then it will be a moot point since it only supports DDR5.

I think there can't be a definitive answer to this questions. Performance of a computer depends on all of its components. I can only tell you that additional cores will bring a performance boost, while everything else like the type of Ram will be rather minor. Chech out some benchmarks, but don't expect too much difference between processors with the same amount of cores in a real world scenario.
