Windows BSOD with LRT 7.1

Offline
#1 martinheck
Hi Gunther,

I know this seems like one of those nightmare problems with no way to properly troubleshoot or replicate.
I still have to report it since I see no direct cause for it:

When creating visual previews and visual deflicker, I randomly get blue-screens. Thats happening not only on my main workstation but also on my Laptop. Both having very different hardware and even different Windows versions (Win10+Win11). I can share the specs if it helps.
The workstation is set to use 32cores, and the Laptop 24cores to render the previews.
In my desperation to get the work done I installed LRT6.6 and it works without issues there. So I assume it has something to do with the new (amazing) faster rendering process you implemented.
Let me know what additional info would be helpful.

Cheers,
Martin

BSOD is usually the result of hardware/driver errors. Diy you get anymore details on the BSOD screen, e.g. a stop code?
Under settings/expert settings how much parallel processes did you configure? Default values or more? If so try less.

I'd also recommend reducing the amount of parallel processes. Especially on computers with many processor cores, there will be a lot of load with many parallel processes which might cause thermal issues or other problems.
As Otto said, a BSOD happen outside LRTimelapse, since LRTimelapse runs in a virtual machine. This is rather hardware related than software related.

The fact that you said you don't have issues with 6.6, could also indicate a compatibility issue with the newer Java-VM, I could try to update that or provide a different version, if you problems persist.

Please observe and report back.
