Wondered if anyone had thoughts on the ultimate machine for running LR timelapse / adobe camera raw.
I imagine custom built PC would be the way to go.

Fast processor with the most cores as possible (check out Amd Ryzen / threadripper), 64 GB RAM, fast M2 SSDs and go for it.
A good GFX Card, but no need for very fastest one.

I recently built a machine for my LR and PS work. I got the most memory and powerful processor within budget:

Processor: Intel Core i9-9900K (5.0 GHz Turbo) (16-Thread) (8-Core) 3.6 GHz
Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z390-P (Intel Z390 Chipset) (Up to 2x PCI-E Devices) (No SLI Support)
System Memory: 64GB DDR4 3200MHz Corsair Dominator Platinum DHX (Extreme-Performance)
Power Supply: 850W Corsair RM850x (Fully Modular)
Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (1TB Samsung 970 PRO) (NVM Express) (Extreme Performance)
Storage Set 2: 1x SSD M.2 (512GB Samsung 970 PRO) (NVM Express) (Extreme Performance)
Storage Set 3: 1x Storage (4TB Western Digital - Ultrastar Data Center Edition)

Drive 1 is the Windows boot drive and all software is installed there
Drive 2 is the scratch drive for PS and LR reads/writes catalogues stored there
Drive 3 holds images and other data. LR backs up to this drive
