Canon 1DXii Holy Grail Wizard issue

Offline
#1 GLittPhoto
I've done my first Holygrail run on the Canon 1Dx mark ii.  For some reason, I can't start the Holy Grail Wizard after setting keyframes.  Seems like the EXIF data isn't prompting LRTimelpase to recognize it as a HG sequence.

any thoughts?  Screenshot attached

I shot this with the Ramperpro, and have tried using both the RP xmps and without.  I've also tried uninstalled LRT and reinstalling 4.7.5, with an updated DNG converter.  I've tried the metadata initialize and EXIF reload.

I can't find the screenshot. The Holy Grail Wizard will be activated when:
1) The sequence was shot in M Mode
2) There are different values for Shutter/Aperture and/or ISO.
Please check the log file too, you might send me the logfile (info menu) and the screenshot to support(at)lrtimelapse(dot)com too.

Sorry, I didn't realize the attachment was too large, I've now re uploaded the screen shot to my original post. And yes, as always the sequence was shot in M, with a switch to Bulb mode at the appropriate time.

Here's is the log file, which I'll also send you via email.  Interesting, and I'm not sure if this is an issue, in the log file it says the Exiftool is 9.96, when I've actually uploaded to 10.43.

UPDATE: I've uninstalled exiftool, and reinstalled the 10.43 dmg. Here's the update log. Still no changes on the Holy Grail Wizard.

Those logfiles basically are empty.
Please load the sequence again. Click on "Metadata / Intitialize". Now "Keyframes Wizard" - check if the Holy Grail Wizard is enabled.
If not click on Save. Now close LRT.
Lauch it again, load the sequence, wait until it has been fully loaded. Now check if the HG-Wizard is enabled. If not, send me the logfile.

Very Interesting.  Just to trouble shoot, I pulled up an old sequence shot on the 5dsr from 7-8 months ago.  I started fresh, re-initializing, and I have no problem pulling up the HG Wizard.  It seems the difference in the log files is that the sequence shot on the 1dxii isn't able to identify the sequence as having been shot in Manual.

Here's the 5DSR log file:

Yes, obviously something is wrong with the EXIF data of that sequence, since LRTimelapse cannot find the information that it's been shot in M-Mode.
The problem is that the keyframes wizard does not create the Holy Grail keyframes (orange triangles). As a work around you could create them manually. Just go to each position before a change in iso/exp/aperture set a 2* keyframe (key 2) and right after the change, a 3* keyframe. Exactly as LRT Keyframes Wizard does with your older sequence. After that, you will be able to activate the HG-Wizard.

I've never had a case like that, it's really strange. II think it might be, because you used Bulb mode.
I would advise not to use Bulb mode, it's not a good approach. Just use Exposure/ISO/Aperture Ramping. There is no need for Bulb Mode when working with LRTimelapse.

Maybe you could do some short test sequences (just indoors) to figure out if it works if you shoot without Bulb.

Ok, thanks for this. Just to be clear, the sequence starts in M, then switches to Bulb at the end.  The bulb mode is really for when it starts to get dark, for HG to astrophotography, because the changes in bulb are finer and have always (for me) yielded better results.  Also, I'd like to mention that I've used this method, Manual to Bulb, or Bulb to Manual for sunrises,  with RamperPro in conjunction with LRTimelapse for several years without any issue.  The only new variable is the 1DXii.  I only used Manual to Bulb in this instance to test, to make sure that the RP made the switch to Bulb, because in the past there were issues with Emotimo devices and RP making the switch to bulb, there was an I/O port issue.  The RP would freeze after the switch.

BUT.  I will shoot a short sequence this evening, only in M, and post the results!  I won't bother with the RP, I'll just manually  make adjustments to test.

I do know that the 1dxii and the 5div use a completely difference library system which caused issues for Ramping devices' compatibility.  I wonder if the answer is in there somewhere.  We'll find out tonight, when i shoot only in Manual! If it still isn't able to recognize M, then we've got a head scratcher!

Please let me know, in any case we'll find a solution. I just need to know, what is the reason.
