there have been several posts on this topic but they seem to be case specific.  I'm having the same problem and after trying more than a dozen different things, including re-initializing the metadata then reloading the keyframes, nothing has worked.  I continue to get this error.

Could you please provide some detailed to do list guidance on this?  I'm totally stuck on finishing this one it just keeps locking up.

Could you please close LRTimelapse. Then open it again, load the sequence, click on auto transition and then, is the error occurs, send me the Logfile from the info menu.

Turns out the problem was that the folder contained a mixture of jpgs and raws. LRTimelapse ignores jpgs for RAW with the same name, but there have been solitary jpgs too. And a mixture of JPGs and RAWs in one sequence is never a good idea and can cause a variety of problems, as dklmaui experienced.
