Holy Grail Workflow problem

Offline
#1 Stephen Locke
I am having trouble getting started using the Holy Grail Workflow. Keyframes Wizard only yields 4 evenly spaced keyframes and they seem unrelated to camera exposure jumps. Also the Holy Grail Wizard is not functioning.

Thus far I've had complete success with the other workflows but Holy Grail Workflow does not seem to be functioning for me.

Is the exiftool badge on the top right of the LRTImelapse window green?
Are you on mac or pc?
Are the Shutterspeed, ISO and Aperture columns filled int the table?
Can you post a screenshot of your preview screen?

With that information I might be able to help you!

I have tried several different sequences. They all work OK in the other workflows except HG.

Does the screen grab above give any clue as to what is happening?

I am ramping my exposure with a variable neutral density filter. Is this the reason LRT does not recognize the changes?

Yes. This will not write the exif data. You might turn on "Optical Keyframe detection" in the expert settings, then you will get the keyframes set - but you still will have to make the 2*/3* adjustments manually in Lightroom. Neither the Holy Grail Wizard nor the Match Total Exposures in LR will work because the changes are not present in the Exif-Data.

I don't recommend using a Vario ND anyway. You will have a hard time even matching the "jumps" manually because the filters do not dim evenly. You will get dark "blobs" that will move when you turn the filter. Nearly impossible to correct seamlessly.

Just ramp exposure time and ISO instead that's the best you can do!
