How to pull it all together

Hello,

This past weekend I shot some air balloons.. i have some raw footage, but I really do not know what to do with it...

I cut up three quick pieces just to see what it could be like, but I would really like some ideas. I do not have a lot of footage, and I can certainly tie it into other things, but, I am equally clueless as to what works with making a movie from timelapse.

any suggestions on cutting up the footage, or ways to implement with other stuff, are greatly appreciated

It's hard to recommend something - cutting a movie is an artistic act for itself - so just be creative Wink Choose a nice music, chose some sequences and put everything together maybe with some transitions.

I usually have a piece of music in my head when I'm looking through the images. I put the music track down and cut the video to that. Usually... sometimes the video track inspires the music. That wasn't much help was it Smile

yes, it was and makes sense.

so, do you first make a bunch of video cuts and have them at your disposal. so, you can then pick and choose those that match to the music sequence properly and plug it in? or, do you pick them in terms of your storyboard and then from that you will cut accordingly as it matches the music? a combination of the above, etc?

I should first mention that I use Premiere Pro to edit.

It's a combination. To me the hardest part about editing is cutting a piece of footage, that I spent a lot of time capturing and editing, to make it fit a piece of music, so I try to find a place for it to go... Sometimes... you just have to cut.

There are some really good tutorials that cover the editing process on Lynda.com (pay site). It's different for each genre though. A documentary is going to be edited differently than a time lapse.
