Long term time lapse filter settings sweet spot?

I use the wonderful LRTimelapse exclusively for long term time lapse. I'm working on a particularly heavy duty 2 year, 50k file .CR2 sequence. I usually use the lum/hue/contrast sliders by trial and error until I get something that culls out the worst offending shots (night, dawn and dusk, rain, etc).

For this project I'd love to hear if there was a more targeted or scientific approach to setting the slider values, given the full process takes about a week before I can evaluate the effectiveness of my culling and deflickering.

Cheers
