Hello. I have transitioned away from Lightroom due to their monthly subscription platform. I am wondering if LR5 is compatible with other phot editing software? I've recently settled on On1 PhotoRaw for my editor and Id like to get back in to timelapse. any ideas?

No, it isn't. You'd need Lightroom (Classic).

Basically, LRTimelapse works with any software that supports XMP sidecar files the way Adobe writes them, but practically that means:
Lightroom Classic
Adobe Bridge (through Adobe Camera Raw)
