LRTimelapse 5.3.2 w/ Adobe DNG Converter "Unknown Errors" BUG?

Offline
#1 wujin941005
Current version of LRT is 5.3.2, LR is 9.0, platform is macOS Catalina
When pairing with Adobe DNG Converter version 12, "Visual Previews" correctly opens Adobe DNG Converter (not a application directory not found issue), however converter returns "Unknown error" and the the LRT log simply shows "Adobe DNG Converter time out" and LRT retries the steps.
I switched back to Adobe DNG Converter 11.4 and everything works again, I believe it is probably a LRT thing, Adobe DNG Converter changes API call or something. Not sure about the inner reason, just a simple observation and I wanna report it.

In case anyone is having the same issue and want to switch back to older versions of Adobe DNG Converter, here are the links:

I cannot confirm this. I've testet LRT 5.3.2 with Adobe DNG Converter 12.0.0 and had no issues. Just testet again, and it just works, also on my Mac with Catalina.
So we need to find out what's going on on your system. Can you install the 12.0 again and then send me the log? You can do that via email, you'll find the adress in the info menu / show log.

If you are on Catalina, check the securiy settings, allow the DNG Converter Full access, just to see, if that fixes the problem, see: https://forum.lrtimelapse.com/Thread-wil...-and-later

I had the same problem, using the same software versions. It turned out that special characters (namely "ß") in the path name were the cause. Maybe Adobe DNG Converter 12.0.0 got more picky in this regard?

Is anyone else still encountering this problem? My DNG converter works on generating visual previews for about 50 photos, but then begins to timeout and shows as not responding.

Here is a copy of the logfile. This time it got through about 35 properly done and then started to endlessly fail. Lowering the amount of threads does solve the problem, but only partially. Lowering it to 10 threads (from 16) about half of the DNG converter instances still are 'not responding' when I view my Activity Monitor. It results in the visual preview creation going incredibly slowly.

This problem does not arrise when I am working off files stored on the computer or on any of my 2TB SSDs. But when files are on a 8TB, 16TB, or 20TB G-technology Raid (in Raid 0 or Raid 1) the DNG Converter stops working as it should. Everything has full disk access, and I've removed their access and then re-given both programs access. Doing that seems to help, but then it starts to time out again after 30-50 visual previews created.

Obviously that seems to have to do, how the files are accessed on your external drive then. Since it's not in my hand how that happens, I can only either recommend to lower the parallel threads even more until it works - or to work on your local drive, which will most likely be much faster anyway. After you've done editing, you can still copy the sequences to the external drive for archiving purposes.

So I just bought this software yesterday, went to render my first time-lapse and ran into this same issue. After some digging and looking at my Activity Monitor on my Mac, I decided that I think the amount of processing trying to be pushed through by the software was too much for Adobe DNG Converter. I have one of the new Mac Pro's with 24 core processor and the program was trying to push through 48 threads at a time. I decided to back this down to 12 and it never had an issue. I haven't tried any amount between those two, you may be able to go higher, but the first number I picked worked. So you may want to back down how many threads you are pushing in the settings menu and see if you have any more luck. Hope this helps someone.

Hi Gunter,
Just reset my threads from 16 to 8 (recommended), maybe this is why the XMP files are not generated.
Will try again tomorrow with different data.
