LRTimelapse Pro-Timer: 2.5mm plug / socket - Nikon

Hi all! I'm considering assembling a Pro-Timer and I have a question regarding the suggested socket for the connection to the camera: the plug on my cable-release (Nikon) has four connections whereas the suggested socket only has three. On studying the way it works and checking the connections with a meter I can see that the connections are simply shorted together to trigger the camera, so this might not be too much of a problem. I'm just a bit concerned that the plug may not fit the socket, or is there an alternative socket I should use? Can any Nikon users help please? Thanks in advance.

Usually the camera release cable will have a 3 connection TRS plug on the one side that will perfectly match the socket on the timer and a proprietary camera plug on the other side.
These are the cables that you should use - just pick the right one for your camera: https://amzn.to/2PnYJRG
