Changes by Klaus Heiss, Austria (Thank you!)
  • LCD backlight dimming for power saving and optical reason
long pressing the select key (left most button), steps the dimming level. Just release the key at suitable level.
  • while capturing a timelapse: up down keys are increasing or decreasing brightness for your convenience
  • Power consumption at available brightness leveles to get an idea of possible power savings:
    0 (OFF)50 mA
1         55 mA  (you may now let backlight on always at this level)
    2         70 mA
    3         88 mA
    4        104 mA
    5        115 mA
    6        124 mA
  • Params can be saved in EEPROM:
quickly pressing the select key 2 times (double click) will save the following parameters to the EEPROM:
      - current display background brightness level
      - current interval
After power on or reset these values are restored from EEPROM
  • Turned OFF Onboard LED 13. it only consumes battery power.
You can download the update from the project page.

Is it necessary to remove the LCD shield to update Arduino ?.

Thanks once again

No, it is not necessary:
- Simply connect the usb cable
- Download Sketch (as Zip and unzip it )
- Open Sketch "LRTimelapse_Pro_Timer_Free.ino" with Arduino IDE
(i assume, you have installed Arduiono IDE)
- Under Tools check if the right board is selected (normally Arduino UNO)
- also check Port: Select serial port which was added, as you plugged in the Arduino UNO
- last but not least: upload!
that should work ;-)

The project page should be updated to say that the LRTimelapse_Pro_Timer_Free folder contains 5 files instead of 3.
EEPROMConfig.h and EEPROMConfig.cpp have been added.

Currently the page reads:
Quote:It is important that the LRTimelapse_Pro_Timer_Free folder is located in the sketch directory and contains those three files.

If you want to be complete, the screenshots should also be updated to show the new files and show the sketch name as LRTimelapse_Pro_Timer_Free instead of gw_timer.

The flow-diagram created by Bernard is now also out of date. (Actually, it's just completely missing the backlight an EEPROM save control.)

Thank you, it was a bad EEPROM library. Everything is in order.
