Yesterday I notice on the Key Frame column where the Key Frame diamonds sit, about 6 photos below the first blue diamond, 2 orange symbols like arrows heads, one pointing outward towards the margin of the column and another pointing inward toward the center, Like so "<" and the next photo below " > ". What do they mean?.

They just mark where the camera settings have been changed when shooting in M mode (holy grail technique) - check the Exif data at that postitions. The Holy Grail Wizard will do the compensations there.
