I recently bought this wonderful software and am using it mainly on my laptop right now.

I would have a desktop PC that would do the the grunt work a tad faster, but I held back on installing LR Timelapse there, as I might upgrade the PC soon (it is, after all, around 10 years old)...

My question then is: Could I install and license the software on my current desktop PC and then just deactivate it, so that i can use the license on my new desktop?

Yes, sure no problem. You can deactivate the license at any time via the licensing dialog and activate it again on the new computer (download if from the original email).
