Pulsing sky while sun is setting.

I have been reading through some of the threads and have seen some mentions of pulsing that can occur when you point your camera straight at the sun.

This was shot on a 6D using SLR Dasboard wirelessly. I did not make any of the adjustments manually. Photos were taken at 30 second intervals. The sun is out at 90 degrees to where the camera is facing.

As the sun was setting the dashboard was changing the exposure on nearly every photo. Certainly every second or third.

I ran this through HG and then tried Deflicker. I am guessing this is not something that deflicker can help with though because there was no change.

I guess I have two questions: Is there a way of taking the pulsing out of this timelapse.

How can I stop this from happening to future timelapses?

That "pulsating" that you are talking about is not the effect, that you are seeing. This happens around blown highlights - you sequence doesn't have those.

Your effect rather looks like as if the holy grail compensation has not been applied at all. If you use the holy grail workflow, don't use deflicker. I'd suggest you redo the whole sequence (start with initializing) with the holy grail workflow only like I've explained in my holy grail tutorial on http://lrtimelapse.com/tutorial - then see if you get a smooth result. If not, please send me a screenshot of the LRTimelapse screen including the curves of the edited image.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Well I gave it another go http://youtu.be/U9DIrIYa908

I normally do not go through the deflicker but i wanted to try everything before posting this question. I have also managed to put together other HG timelapses not sure what is happening to this one.

I'm not sure too - the screenshot looks good too - I don't understand, why the adjustments seem not to be applied.
Did you do very strong corrections in Lightroom?

Could you try to load the intermediary JPG sequence that you exported with LRTExport directly into LRTimelapse to do a second pass - this time don't use any Holy Grail adjustments but just use the deflicker tool. Then export again. This will deflicker on the already leveled sequence and might improve the result.

Sorry for the late reply.

No the lightroom adjustments are very light.

I could try to load the jpeg sequence for a deflicker workflow but that method is what i tried before i posted here and the results are: http://youtu.be/-UxKR2ADDFY.

I encounter similiar problems with some of my footages, not much, but enough to make me nervous! Usually the problem is from a lens vignetting flicker(HATE IT) or strong LR tweaking.
I looked at two of your videos, they are pretty serious problems IMO, good luck with your problem. I'll follow this thread to see if there are inspiring thoughts!
PS: try deflick again in PR/AE with GBDeflicker if you have it!
