Lapsefinger.
The idea was that I wanted to illustrate the passage of time, and how better to do that than make a timelapse clip of a clock..?
The seconds hand bothered me, though. If I shot a timelapse at f.x. 10 sec intervals, the seconds hand would jump around the clock face in fixed positions. Not good. Other intervals didn't work very well either. That's when I decided to try a more creative approach:
- • At an interval of 0:59, the seconds hand and the minute hand will move in opposite directions at approximately the same speed.
• At an interval of 1:59, the minute hand will move twice as fast as the seconds hand, still in opposite directions. An interval of 1:58 will give them the same speed.
• An interval in whole minutes will make the seconds hand stationary.
• At an interval of 1:01 both hands will move clockwise (!) at approximately the same speed. At 1:02 the seconds hand will move fastest.
It's not a big thing, but quite fun to play with. I'll probably use it in an intro somewhere, I haven't decided yet.
