Setting XMP-Metadata (confusion)

Offline
#1 Cyngen
Hi,

I have a bit of confusion on my part about setting the XMP-Metadata as you talk about it in your eBook. (Great book by the way).

I'm unclear if I check this on in LR5 settings or leave it off and how do i then save the XMP data into the sidecar file?

I use Lightroom 5, and will use LRTimelapse as well. In order to get this all complete, where do i need to trigger the settings??

Thanks,
Kurt

Hi Kurt,
what you should turn off is the automatic writing of the XMP data, see here:
http://forum.lrtimelapse.com/Thread-ligh...s-into-xmp

Then the metadata (XMP) will travel between LR and LRT as follows:

- When you changed something in LRT, "Save" will update the XMPs.
- In Lightroom then, in Gridmode (G) you select everything and "load Metadata from files" (Metadata menu)
- If you changed anything in LR and want to pass this to LRT, you select again in Gridview, then "Save metadata to files.
- In LRT you just reload to update the changes then.

But this all is pretty thoroughly explained in the EBook as well.

Thanks, that's the missing link so to speak. I do have the ebook and have been reading and experimenting. Just needed to double check on the one tidbit.
