Hello everyong,

With the thousands of images involved in timelapse shooting, does anyone worry about shutter count and wear on their shutter?

LOL.  Gunther, I'll take that as a no.

Imagine how many time lapse sequences you have to shoot to reach a shutter count of 150.000 - if you assume you have a sequence size of 500 images, this would be 300 timelapse sequences. Sounds few? Let me know, when you finished shooting them... ;-)

Yes, in a word. But only to the extent that I may be out somewhere and not be able to get hold of another camera.

It is very easy if you're doing this as a job to rack up the shutter count.

I was in Paris 2 weeks ago. Over 2 days I managed a shutter count of around 9000 images. Back in June I went to Florence to specifically do time lapse and got through around 40 to 45000 counts of the shutter.

What I did do is get hold of Canon and ask how much it cost to repair the shutter when it comes to it. I was told it was around £170 + VAT. That is a minor inconvenience when it's my job.

I agree. And I'd recommend to never go traveling without a spare body anyway.
