Smartphone in very cold temperature

Offline

As I've written in my Polar-Light post (in the showroom-section), my smartphone died during a sunset to polar light timelapse shooting at temperatures around -10 to -20 °C. I usually connect to my camera using USB, since I find it more reliable than via WIFI. In order to prevent the battery to run low, for longer timelapses it might however be better to connect the smartphone to a powerbank and use the WIFI to control the camera with DSLR-Dashboard. On the other hand, it usually is not recommended to charge the smartphone at temperatures below 0 °C.
Has anybody experience how to solve this problem?
Viele Grüße,
Kurt

Put the phone in your backpack. Put it back to back with the battery, which will generate a bit of heat which is enough.
Close the backpack!

I always use these to "feel smartphone/tablet/powerbank comfortable" Wink

They last several hours. Used it last time in Feb in Norway

Thanks for your tipps, I'll try them out next time (and of course, beforehand I shall make a longer check with the WIFI-connection to my camera!).
