Using EXIFtool to fix flickering

Offline

I learnd this from this post : https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4448768

The idea is simple.
- The camera records some value regarding brightness and whitebalance for each picture on EXIF(RAW)
- Lightroom uses these values to process the picture
- These values, which are different for each RAW files, are not controlled by Lightroom nor LRTimelapse,

--> Lightroom is using different settings to develop each frames. The result is filcker in color and brightness.
-> solution : use constant value for every frames.

I'm using sony A7M3 and had to fix two values BrightnessValue , WB_RGGBLevelsAuto from EXIF
I used exiftoolgui https://github.com/FrankBijnen/ExifToolGui

- For brightness, chose a value from one specific frame and paste it to all pictures.
mine had value in range between -11.7 to -11.2 so I just used -11.5 for all frames.

-for whitebalance, I used value from "WB_RGGBLevels" which is constant for all files.

You could find sample result from below.
LR Development settings for two video are not identical but people who suffered from incurable flickering in low exposure timelapse could catch the flickering is GONE on the floor and sky.
- without EXIF fix(regular) : https://www.youtube.com/shorts/WHlg0pJvkEY
- with EXIF fix: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/F-k2vtBvdAU

For other cameras than sony, they might have similar values to be fixed but I'm no expert about that.

This is very interesting. I already have evaluated this in my Expert Tips Video #5 https://lrtimelapse.com/tutorial/expert/
Most of the time it helped, changing the color profile to "Camera Standard" instead of the default "Adobe Color" profile. Could you please try this with your files?

Nevertheless, I will evaluate those exif fields and if I can confirm that this is the reason for such weird color deviances, will try implenenting something to fix it directly in LRTimelapse.

I'm moving this thread to feature requests.

I've done some tests with Nikon NEF-Sequences, where I experienced this type of flicker (for example the one that I used in the Expert Tips #5 video) but couldn't find any deviance in such Exif Fields. In the Nikon files I can find the following Exif Field
Code:
Black Level: 600 600 600 600
Those values seem to differ from camera to camera model but not for different shots of one camera. At least, I couldn't find an example yet.

Could you please provide samples of the Sony files where you could reproduce this with? Also of course I would be interested in Raw files from other brands showing similar behavior in Lightroom.

nevermind, I've tested with original RAW and Fixed raw, for both color profile change and without change with same development settings.

There is still color flickering for all 4 cases. It seems the difference between two video is came from LR development settings.

Sorry for wasting your time.
