Visual Previews not working

Offline
#1 Gunther
If the visual previews are not being created (the yellow line under the preview never gets green and the "remaining previews" count does not really decrease) then please check the following.
  1. Check that the latest DNG Converter is properly installed, the "DNG Converter" Badge at the top right must be green. If in doubt, please just reinstall the DNG Converter, you'll find the download link here: http://lrtimelapse.com/install

  2. LRTimelapse creates previews and a settings file inside each folder with timelapses. If for some reason, those previews got corrupted, you can start over from scratch by right clicking onto the folder in the tree on the left and choose "Clear all LRTimelapse edits" and then start over
Now open LRTimelapse, load that time lapse folder and try creating the visual previews again.

To test quickly, if everything is working:
  • Start over from scratch by right clicking onto the folder in the tree on the left and choose "Clear all LRTimelapse edits". Load the folder. Just click on the visual previews button and see, if LRTimelapse starts developing. The pink curve should appear and the "remaining images" counter should decrease.
  • Now select the first image in the sequence, this should have or get a visual preview quickly. Click into the Cell in the table for this image under "Exposure 2012", enter "1.0". This will increase exposure by +1 for this image. Click on save. It should take a couple of seconds, then the preview image gets brighter.
If this works, all is good. Then watch my tutorials http://lrtimelapse.com/tutorial and start editing your timelapses like explained there.

I just got the program last month and I love it. I have followed along in the video and have been getting great results! But in the past two day I've been having nothing but problems.

Everything is good until I goto generate previews and I am not really sure why. I have reinstalled the LR 4.0.4 program, Checked my disk speeds, used different disks, Reinstalled DNG Converter 9.0, tried different footage. No matter what I do I seem to get the same problems.

I need some help. The program is in a render loop. I have uploaded a video to show you what I am talking about. I can not find the folder where the previews are being generated. I did what you wrote above but it says it does not exist?

I have uploaded the video here: https://vimeo.com/130625362
Password is LR

I should add that when using the standalone converter everything converted fine. So it seems to be a communication error between LR and DNG converter? '

System specs:
Mac osx 10.10.3
Mac Pro (late 2013)
3.5 GHz 6 Core Intel Xeon E5
16GB 1866 Mhz DDR3 ECC
AMD FirePro D500 3072 MB

First thing would be to delete the ".lrt" folder like explained in the topmost post -and then try again.
If you can't manage to delete that folder, create a new folder for the time lapse and then move all image files from the old folder (and only the image files) to the new one. Then try to load that new folder into LRTimelapse and activate the Visual Previews again.

If that doesn't help, please send me the log file after you turned on the visual previews. You'll find it under info menu/show log.

Hi Gunther,

I have this problem too but only on one of my 2 laptops. It is very strange. Both are using the same version of LRT, both are using the same external HDD to access and save files to.

When I inlaid had the problem I followed your advice on deleting the hidden lrt folder and it did not help.

Do you think if I delete the LRT Program and reinstall it may help? This issue only began effecting the LRT on my Macbook Pro after the 4.0 upgrade. I have subsequently upgraded to 4.1 (build 72) and still have the problem.

As mentioned my Macbook Air has no issues (with the same Version number and Build).

A bit confused...any advice would be greatly appreciated

Is the latest DNG Converter installed on that machine? Is the path to the DNG converter been set correctly in the LRTimelapse Settings / External tools? If the problem persists, please send me the log file (info menu/log) after actiating the visual previews on a sequence and add a description what ist happeining and what not.

I found a loop-whole that worked.
Load the visual previews like you normally do. When the preview freezes or goes into the render loop, Force quit LR Time-lapse. Then reopen LR and click on the same sequence. Hit visual previews again. This will load all of the visual preview files that were already created and will pick up where it got stuck! I hope this helps.

Hi, the visual preview is still not showing up, after delite the map you said.
After pssing the auto transition button, there are almost now diferense between the preview lum, and the visual lum. I did all the things you did in the tutorial, made the changes in ligthroom an bring them back, but it seems like lrtimelapse don`t make the changes in the files to make a smoot transition.... in the video you made, there was a lot of changes in diferent curves (holy grail shooting) but there are now changes in those curves for me..... why??? All the 4 "things" up in right corner of the program are ok. I delet the lrt. map..... I trye to reinstall, I have tryes 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2....
I am aout to give up..... When I get to a point where the exposure have been change in the shooting, the preview lumen jumps, and the visual also do that, even after the calculation... please help.

4.2 is the version to use, please, I won't give support for older versions.
Apart from this I'm having difficulties understanding what you are trying to say, sorry.

Please send me your log file after activating the visual previews on a sequence. You'll find the log file under: info menu/show log.

I can not se tha changes I have made in visual preview.
The compensation for the adjustments I make on the camera under shooting overcompensates. when i adjust the shutterspeed to let in more light, lrtimelapse overcompensates for this, and make it darker after calculating.... looks like deflicker overcompensates.
