1. I copied a folder of photos to another place and the snapshots are gone.
(Actually I want to move the folder, just using copy to test it first)

2. If I want to reinstall my OS, how can I backup snapshots?

With LRT3 the snapshots and previews are stored into your users directory. With LRTimelapse 4 they will get migrated to a subfolder of the actual time lapse folder, so backing up would be much easier and even if you move or copy outside LRTimelapse they will get preserved.
Instead of messing with the former structure of the files (you will probably not find the snapshot for the folder you've moved because of the structure it's stored in LRT3.

Therefore I'd recommend to upgrade to LRT4, whenever you open a folder then, the snapshots and previews will get migrated to the new location.
