I agree this would be great but as it is now there’s no signal path for the timer to know what the current shutter time is, or is there?

No, LRT Pro timer cannot know the exposure set in the camera.

The timer could measure the exposure time on the hot shoe. So I do that and that works very well for longer exposure times.
