Adobe just recently updated Lightroom Classic with a new "texture slider". Is LRTL-5 compatible with this new slider? Should I wait to upgrade lightroom when there is an update for LRT?

LRTimelapse is compatible with any sliders. In Version 5.2.1 however, it cannot yet be animated, but I'll add this with the next update. Usually animation of that slider won't be necessary anyway. For now just set it on the first keyframe and it will be automatically populated to the rest of the sequence during the workflow.
I'll add keyframe animation for the Texture sliders in 5.2.2.
