Full Version: Visual previews way brighter/darker than Lightroom edits

I've searched the forum and not found anything that seems to answer this problem I have.

I have followed all steps carefully (including having the most up to date DNG converter and using the LRTimelapse script to sync files), but when I reload the images after editing in Lightroom (applying only compatible adjustments), hit auto transition, then hit visual previews... the previews are way too bright at the start, and way to dark at the end, with a crazy drop of the pink line from top left to bottom right. Yet I didn't even adjust exposure for the first few keyframes, and brightened the end ones slightly. Yet the previews are starting way over exposed and the end ones way underexposed.

I've attached screenshots of the first and last keyframes both in Lightroom and in LRTImelapse below. I've just paid for a licensed copy, so I'm really hoping this can be sorted out, as I would love to use the program and get the results I have seen previously.

First keyframe in LIghtroom: https://ibb.co/Wp7P2YZ
First keyframe visual preview in LRT: https://ibb.co/2cGckXX
Last keyframe in LIghtroom: https://ibb.co/YbPt4dj
Last keyframe visual preview in LRT: https://ibb.co/5Rmf1bW

Hoping it's a simple fix and I'm doing something stupid that can be easily changed! Thanks.
If you used the holy grail wizard, you need to take care to bring the orange curve close to the horizontal middle line with the sliders. Then when editing, make sure to not add or remove and gradient filters, only use the ones provided by LRTimelapse's initialization.
Please try the edit again, give it a clean start via "Metadata / Initialize" in LRT and consider my tips, this will get you going.
Thanks for your response. I didn't use the holy grail wizard, as the program warned me against doing so, and I didn't apply any gradient filters. I also deleted all LRTimelapse editing by right clicking on the folder and selecting "clear all LRTimelapse editing" and then tried again. The results were the same.

Would you suggest I try the holy grail wizard despite the program advising me not to do so?
If you clear all edits, you need to reinitialize the sequence (Metadata / Initialize). Also I recommend to remove the sequence from lightroom for a clean restart.
Obviously something is wrong in your workflow. So please start over - do Metadata / Initialize, remove the sequence from LR and start from scratch. Do a very simple adjustment in the first instance: work with two keyframes, only change the exposure. Then see if that works. If so, you can add further edits. Make sure to always be in Grid View when reading/writing metadata in LR.
Carefully follow the instructions on https://lrtimelapse.com/workflow/
I can assure you that this is most likely an issue with your workflow, not a bug or similar.
Thanks again.

Here's what I did step by step after your reply. Hoping we can get to the bottom of it...

1. I cleared all LRTimelapse edits

2. I removed the import from Lightroom

3. I initialised the sequence in LRTimelapse

4. I set just two keyframes in the keyframe wizard

5. I hit Save in LRTimelapse and dragged to Lightroom

6. I imported the sequence into Lightroom and selected the two keyframes

7. I moved to the Develop module and applied minimal edits to each keyframe (Keyframe 1: exposure -0.53, contrast +11, highlights -77, shadows -25, whites +19. Keyframe 2: exposure +1.14, contrast +11, highlights -81, shadows -47, whites +16). Unlike last time I did NO crop, saturation, vibrance, lens corrections or transform adjustments, nor did I do any other adjustments.

8. I went back to the library in Lightroom and in grid view saved the metadata to the keyframes

9. I went into LRTimelapse and reloaded the files

10. I hit Auto Transition (and waited until the blue line had reached the end at the top left of the screen)

11. I hit Visual Previews

The result was exactly the same - majorly overexposed at the start (virtually completely blown out), and majorly underexposed at the end (pure black). Please refer to the attached image:

I noticed the yellow line didn't change to green, which I think I remember it doing in the older version before I downloaded the newer one. Could that be connected to the problem?
Can you turn off visual previews (click on visual previews again) and send a Screenshot?

Hi Gunther. I closed the program and went to bed after my last message (I'm in Australia). When I got up this morning, I saw your reply and reopened the program, and when it reloaded the sequence, the problem is gone! I've attached a screenshot of it and while it is still loading, you can see the pink line is where it should be now.

I'm really not sure what happened, but restarting the program fixed it. Hopefully it doesn't happen again! I'm going to finish this as is and will then go back in and try with more adjustments (especially guided transform to straighten the buildings - I saw in your announcement that support for that was added a while ago).

Thanks for your responses, and hopefully I don't have to post when I try future timelapses!
