Hi All,

i'm trying to connect my Nikon D7100 to samsung Galaxy Tab 2 via USB.

As i'm failing so far i have few questions:

- do i need a USB otg plug or will simple female-female adapter to connect camera and tablet cables will do?
- does my Galaxy Tab need to be rooted (if so, please advise with the quickest options possible)?
- when i'm checking USB Host, it says its enabled but no USB driver present - does this need to be downloaded, if so, how?

Many thanks,

Mariusz
anyone? please?
You definitely need an OTG-Adapter.
Use for example the OTG-Troubleshooter to check if OTG is working.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...oter&hl=de
Root is not required.
Thanks so much! I thought there must have been something wrong with the connection...
I don't have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 but as far I know you must use the Samsung OTG adapter, something like this ( http://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Dongle-Fem...xy+tab+otg )

What I know there is problem with the latest Samsung firmware for it, seams they broke the USB on it with the latest update: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-...-dslr.html (could be that it will work with a custom ROM)

root is not needed if the device fully supports the Google USB Host API.
If it does not supports the you can try with root but only the new cross platform DslrDashboard (http://dslrdashboard.info) has this function.
Hi again guys!

After some research and hours of trying to figure out what the hell i'm doing wrong, i finally feel like giving up....

As i mentioned before i use Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 for DSLDashboard. And i finally got to the stage where we got it working (after many trials and errors). But the problem is - it just stopped working and although the tablet "sees" the USB device being connected, the DSLR Dashboard just don't seem to see the camera being connected to it.

I have decided to swap Tab2 for other, more reliable tablet then (as i believe it must be Samsung's hardware/software issue), just to avoid future disappointment and to spare my poor mind from freaking out in locations Big Grin

Please, could you recommend a similar tablet in similar price range, but something that will work 100%?

Many thanks again.

Mariusz
I'd recommend the Nexus 7 (either 2012 or 2013) since they are known to work without any flaws. Samsungs USB implementation is known to be very special thus causing problems.
Another option would be to go for the TPLink and use the WiFi route.
Thanks for the reply and a tip. I think i'll just go for Nexus and stick to wired connection for now and upgrade to wireless later if need to.
