Full Version: Practical additional value of 3-axis movements vs 2-axis

Hello all,

I'm moving to Vietnam for a few years, and figured that it was a good time to take my time-lapse photography to the next level! I therefore decided to buy a slider.

I will definitely take the Dynamic Perception Stage One as I need to be able to pack everything in a backpack or hand luggage for plane travel.

The big remaining question is to choose between an emotimo (allowing 3-axis movement), or the Stage R element (2-axis). The sage R seems a lot more robust and less prone to wind vibration.

My question is, using ball heads (between slider and stage R or between stage R and camera), can't I achieve almost any movement using a 2-axis system?
How many of your shots would really require a 3-axis setup?

Thanks,

K
You can do a lot with 2 axis. I often use 2 axis, when I travel.
