Full Version: Transfer RAW images to PC directly - do not store on camera

Does anyone know if this is possible?

I "only" have a 32GB SD card, but with the high file size of raw images from a D800, I can only store around 600 and I'd like to store a lot more.

My PC's storage is a lot more and I'd like to use DDB, but I can't figure out if there's a way to get it to work without the need of on-board camera storage: if I take the card out, DBB will refuse to take a picture...

A prompt answer would be appreciated as it's my last night to try and shoot a sunset where I am and I'd like to be able to do it Smile

Thanks Smile
No, this won't work - at least not for time lapse since it would take too long to transfer each huge NEF file from the camera to the computer or tablet.
Memory cards are quite cheap. Just get yourself a 128GB card for under 40US$ - why bother.

Ah ok. I haven't checked what the transfer speeds are, but if the interval is 10s or more, it should be sufficient at 5MB per second.
I guess I'll just have to buy a bigger card.
