That's actually a very good questions. Electronic shutter (at least on Sony cameras) while shooting at longer focal lengths >100mm causes jello effect on the photos. While mechanical keeps it nice. There's still some small movement, caused by the wind and long lens, but there's no jello. I ruined ~5 timelapses last week, because I forgot about that.
