I also have an old coupler (from the 6D) in the R and have no problem with it.
I suspect that with the newer R's Cannon the coupler is more controlled so that you only use the original one...

Yesterday I sent for a "LanParte E6 Dummy Battery Pack", which I suppose to receive tomorrow I hope it will work.
What about the camera switch off time? Do you use an intervalometer or set the number of shot in camera?

I have received the LanParte dummy battery, and it has worked straight from the start, obviously I need to really put it through it paces. Thank you very much for your kind input helping me in trying to solve the problem.
