necessary to duplicate original raw files? - patrickj - 2018-04-10

hi, i am confused, i thought i read somewhere on here it's best to keep a separate copy of your original unmodified raw files and another that you work off of within LRtimelapse. is that true and why/why not?

thank you

Hi

There is no need to keep copies of the RAW when working in LRT. The RAW files itself will not be amended. All editing Information will be written in XMP files.

Best regards
Monika

oh ok. i thought the xmp or exif, some part of the original raw files can be overwritten after processing in lrtimelapse. maybe i misunderstood.

The metadata from the LR edits will be saved in the same folder as the original RAW files but not in the RAW files itself but into separate xmp files.
