the best workflow system requirements - fotopaulm - 2019-08-19

What are the best system requirements for a system in combination with many projects over years of images.

I have 30 jobs running for many months and years. gathering tens of thousend images.
They all need to be processed in LR and and Lightroom every months again.

How would you setup the nas what nas, cables, computer, graphiccard, cpu ram,
what makes the difference in workflow speed.

Generally, for timelapse processing with LRT and LR, a computer with many processor cores and one or more fast SSDs would be the main factors. I'd put the OS, Lightroom Catalog, Images to process on an SSD.
I've build myself a system 1.5 years ago based on an AMD threadripper with which I'm still happy.

Check out my blog post about it on my german blog:

Sounds good. The only issue with this setup is that the processor is only 8 cores, 16 threads. If you get yourself one with 16 cores /32 threads for example, you'll nearly double the speed for export in Lightroom and Visual Preview creation in LRTimelapse. This is the parameter with the biggest leverage, because Lightroom (in the current CC Classic versions) and LRTimelapse do very good multithreading unsing the processors with all possible threads in parallel.
