pulsating timelapse - dvhelden - 2019-09-26

Hi,

I have been using LRTimelapse for quite some time now, and still very
happy with it. But my last timelapse shows some pulsating in the darker
scenes and I cannot get it any better. It happens when the ISO goes up.

You can also see it happening in LRTimelapse:

Any idea why this is happening and how to correct it?

Regards!

Dick

I think, that might be a kind of contrast flicker. If setting a reference area to the sky for deflickering (check out my deflicker tutorial if you haven't) and a couple of refine steps doesn't fix the issue, you have contrast flicker. The sky will then stay constant and the dark areas will show the effect.
This is mainly introduced by heavy lightroom editing with non linear tools. We already discussed this here many, many times (use search). You can ease it by reducing the usage of whites, blacks, highlights, shadows, dehaze and clarity and use the parametric tonecurve instead to control the contrast. Thanks, never really noticed this until last timelapse. I will check if I can smoothen it up a bit.
