Hatching Butterfly... - paf6169 - 2020-05-21

So yesterday was the day the cocoon I had collected over 2 weeks ago was going to hatch. I knew this because I had collected 2 other cocoons and they hatched a week ago. I also knew that it will happen very fast. The moment the cocoon breaks until the butterfly is out hanging on it happens in maybe 30 or 40 seconds. So I knew my interval had to be 1 second (or less if i had the LRT Pro Timer). I set up my camera and observed it for an hour, but nothing happened.

My dilemma: I had to leave.

So I setup the internal intervalometer to shoot 9000 times at 1 second interval and the picture quality to JPG medium (10mb) to fit all the images on the SD card. When I came home in the afternoon, I was very happy that it had recorded the hatching, but not until the last 1000 pictures, i.e. I almost missed it. The battery was also a concern, because it only had 75% when I pressed the shutter and left the building. But, it still had 6% left when I came home.

Attached is a picture of my setup (my kitchen table).

Nice set up, well done; nice and sharp. It makes you wonder what it is thinking as it just posed there, after the birth.

Congratulations, the shot is very sharp and the light, (I suppose artificial, of course), very suitable.
My most sincere congratulations
