sort by filename or capture time - faqgallo - 2020-10-16

Hello, I have a secuence of 1300 photos with name and photo number and I organize them poorly, I can organize them by ascending or descending name, it accommodates them worse. What can I do, because it generates a huge flikeo, who can help me thanks.

Normally regardless of the filenames, LRTimelapse should sort them automatically by capture time which will be the right order for any timelapse.
in Lightroom make sure to have set the sort order to capture time also, you can set this in Grid View on the toolbar (t).

Thank you very much for answering, of course it is what I always do, I use LRT for a long time, I understand that I handle it well since I have very nice tmls without fliker. When I go to the crew that you say, he orders it to me but it looks bad. from 10 it goes to 100 as the next ten frame and mixes all of them, and if I press the A / Z of the gang it is worse. I understand how it works but this is the first time it has happened to me and I cannot correct it.

I assume in your case, your camera might not have written any proper Exif-Data for Date/Time (some special long term cameras are known for not writing Exif) - then LRTimelapse needs to use the alphabetical sorting for the filenames.
In such cases, the filenames need to be sortable lexicographically.
That means, you need names like:
00001
00002
00003
00010
00011
00012
00020

Such names however wont work:
1
2
3
10
11
12
20

They'd been sorted by first character first etc.
1
10
11
12
2
20
3

There are various renaming tools available (or even Lightroom should be able to do so) that you could use to rename the images with leading zeros.

RE: sort by filename or capture time - faqgallo - 2020-10-17

haaaa great that may be the problem because when I load everything to lrt it threw an exif error, I changed the name of the files, I am going to try only with the zeros anything I notice thank you very much.

RE: sort by filename or capture time - faqgallo - 2020-10-17

hi rename the files as you suggested.
0001
0002
0020
0200
etc.
But I'm still not successful, nothing accommodates me.
LRT tells me there is a path problem not containing ASCII characters
that causes the problems when loading the exif data

You didn't tell me that yet.
So, why don't you rename the folder? If you can't figure out which special char is causing the problem, send me the log file after loading that sequence, then I can tell you what's wrong with the name.

that day I made at least 4 tml.
this tml that I have 1200 raw photos threw me the ACSII error.
I changed the name of the folder as the program said, rename the files as well, change them as well, and well now I'm with you supporters because I try everything, how do I send you the sequence?
What should I send you and what email? thanks

RE: sort by filename or capture time - Gunther - 2020-10-18

Just load the sequence then send me the log via info menu / show log.
