M1 vs i9 Intel performance / memory requirements - Zorro - 2022-01-28 Hi all, Has anyone had much experience on the performance difference between the M1 and Intel chips os on OS X (I am especially thinking re my i9 16" MacBook Pro 5500) and also the memory requirements: I have heard it said that a 16GB M1 is more equivalent 32GB on an Intel machine. Presumably LR Timelapse is the perfect tool for putting that to the test. I ask as I need to replace my i9 sooner rather than later and I am trying to get the right balance between RAM/SSD/CPUGPU and I wonder if 16GB works (and I can then get a bigger SSD or CPU) and given that Macs don't have replaceable parts... Cheers, RE: M1 vs i9 Intel performance / memory requirements - Gunther - 2022-01-28 If it's only for LRT and your sequences have "normal" size, 16GB of Ram is plenty. The M1 are much faster than the Intel Macs. |
