I can't abide with the Adobe subscription format so I'm hoping that you decide to make LR Time-lapse work with other programs or a standalone program. Any possibilities?

You can use the internal workflow in LRTimelapse 6, if you want to use LRTimelapse standalone. See the tutorial about the internal workflow on https://lrtimelapse.com/tutorial/
