Request - Estimated Video Render File Size - DSimagesTL - 2024-02-19

Hey Gunther!

A random request I've had for a while but haven't mentioned would be an estimated rendered video file size.
Not sure if something like this is possible down the road, but would be greatly appreciated.

It would be nice to switch between the different qualities and file types to see how large our renders would be.

Thanks!
Drew

Hi Drew, I understand your request and would love to implement it. Unfortunately I don't know of any way to get this information before the actual render process from the renderer (ffmpeg). The problem is, that the file sizes for highly compressed formats like h.265 and h.264 depend extremely on the content of the video (basically how big are the differences between frames). There is no way to know this before actually analyzing the video. And as far as I know, ffmpeg doesn't provide any quick analysis feature to get that information in an acceptable time for such a feature to be valuable.
