Deflicker stuck on areas - Kian - 2024-08-06
I'm having deflicker get stuck in a loop where it is just reversing the settings back and forth for deflicker. Images attached are from the first and second pass. No matter how many passes I add it keeps doing this while the rest is fixed.

Without knowing more details, I can't tell too much.
Please let me know, which version you are using, send me the log file (info menu / show log) and send a screenshot how the overall edit looks.
If you overedited the sequence with non linear tools like dehaze, clarity, or even shadows/hightlights, weird things might happen due to the nature of the lightroom tools.
But as I said, please provide more details.

I'm using LRTimelapse 7. I have to turn smoothing to make the bumps less noticeable which is my fix at the moment.

I don't see any errors in your log.
Make sure to set a good reference area for deflicker as explained in the basic tutorial: https://lrtimelapse.com/tutorial/

I would but my time lapse has really sharp cloud lines and movement so I assumed that wouldn't help. If it was a clear sky, sure. It's a wall of storms moving in.
Awkwardly the place that LRTimelapse can't seem to handle though is after the storm hits and it's mostly just grey. Guess the program isn't throwing up errors but it doesn't know how to handle it since it keeps reversing it back and forth.

Hard to tell without seeing the sequence. Maybe you can upload it somewhere.
You can even deflicker / refine only part of the sequence by selecting it.
Yet I never came around a sequence that couldn't be deflickered with LRT when done right.
Mostly when deflicker doesn't work, it's Lightroom messing up with the edits.

How can I deflicker only part of the sequence?
So I should avoid strong edits in Lightroom? That's good to know. I tried a reference area and it made the entire sequence pulse several times throughout. Tough luck there.

This is very fast (too long intervals) so it has very rapid changes in contrast and movement but not much flicker as far as I can see on that instagram reel.
I think the outcome is ok, but next time I'd use shorter intervals to have more "room" for editing, deflickering etc. You can still accelerate later in post processing, but everything will be smoother.
You could try adding a little (!) bit of LRT Motion Blur when rendering, but maybe your sequence is too fast for that.
To deflicker part of a sequence, just select that part in the table and the deflicker operation will be applied to that part only.
