Add more images to a finished sequence - Nath - 2024-08-28

Hi, i have a question i found no answer to yet.

A client asked us to create a timelapse from his construction project before the project was finished. Now the project is done and the client asks for the full timelapse of the project. Is there a way i can add the images to the sequence and carry over the keyframe adjustments from the finished part? Or should i start from scratch?

Thanks!

Nath from Avisec AG

Personally, I think I would start from scratch and use the long term filters as explained in my Long Term Tutorial ( https://lrtimelapse.com/tutorial/advanced ). After that do the editing.

Ok, i will do that. Thanks Gunther!

Hi Gunter,
this actually is my frequent case, as I am involved in the production of almost ONLY long term timelapses (from 1 yr to over 3 yrs).
I still have to figure out what is the best workflow to follow to produce regular visual content to clients.
Let's, for example assume that a client ask for a clip of each “new” month of shooting, also, occasionally it asks for a reel that covers just a specific phase of a construction; all these requests will use part of the on going produced images that are regularly added to the project as time goes by.

To accomplish this, I am trying now to add new produced images to an open project and looks like it all works.

Basically this is my workflow:
1 – Add new images to a folder I created where ALL the photos of an ongoing project will be stored and used by LRT.
2 – Sort them using the filter options to optimize the three curves, very useful for long range TL
3 – Run the Keyframe Wizard for the whole sequence again, keep in mind that this step is run every time all over again as the sequence has new images – Save -
4 – Export to LR (yeah I use only raws) and do all it’s needed.
5- Back to LRT till the end.
What do you think? Would you suggest, for very long timelapses with the need to create several and temporary clips, another workflow?
Thank you very much for your feedback
Piero

Hi Piero,
personally, I think I would work with multiple folders, for example per month with each folder not holding more than 5-10 thousand images. This will make processing faster. At the very end or on customers demand you could still consolidate the filtered images to one folder.
Also you can move images between folders at any time. When I work with long term timelapse I find myself moving images between folders all the time to get the desired subsequences. LRTimelapse makes that very easy via "Move" or "Remove".

You can also use the copy/paste feature to copy edits for already edited images to unedited ones.
